DUTCH NAME FINAL 23

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has announced his 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup. The Dutch gaffer cut four more names from his provisional roster after the 2-1 friendly win against Mexico on Wednesday.

Defenders Vurnon Anita (Ajax) and Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord), midfielder Orlando Engelaar (PSV) and attacker Jeremain Lens (AZ) have all just missed out on this summer's tournament.

Netherlands have to deal with Cameroon, Denmark and Japan in the group phase of the World Cup. They start the tournament with a match against Denmark on June 14. Should be a good one.

WORLD CUP FAVS LOOKING VERY VUNERABLE

With International Friendlies the main source of football these days, I have a few issues with some of the so-called World Cup favourites such as SPAIN, ENGLAND and FRANCE. These three nations were in action this weekend and I was able to view the matches in which they took part in. SPAIN were lucky 3-2 winners over a very average I must say Saudi Arabia team. Llorente eventually scored the winner in extra time. The performance yesterday is what we were accustom to seeing from Spain pre EURO 2008 where we know Spain to be perennial under achievers.

England on the other hand were thankful to the Japanese who gifted them two own goals in a 2-1 victory. England were very poor and lacked any endevour on the pitch. If they really want to be a force to be reckoned with they need to show their class whether it was a friendly or not.

And finally LES BLEU, I have absolutely no faith in Dommench. He is by far the worst coach in french football history. The 1-1 draw with Tunisia was a very poor showing by the French as we have come to expect. Really these teams need to step up or they will be a number of surprises on hand in June....hey maybe that's what the World Cup needs surprises. What do you think?
